Mode Awarded Armed Forces Covenant Funding for New “Families Together” Programme

Mode Rehabilitation is pleased to announce that we have been awarded funding from the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust to deliver a new programme supporting families of wounded, injured, or sick veterans.
The Families Together programme has been funded through the Family Focus programme, which supports initiatives that strengthen relationships and wellbeing within Armed Forces families.
Families of wounded, injured, or sick veterans often face significant challenges as they adapt to new circumstances. These changes can affect family roles, relationships, and emotional wellbeing, leaving many families feeling isolated or unsure how to navigate the transition.
The Families Together programme has been designed to address these challenges by pairing families who are newly adjusting to life with a wounded, injured, or sick veteran with families who have already successfully navigated similar experiences. Through structured peer mentorship, facilitated group sessions, and access to professional talk therapy support, the programme will create opportunities for families to share experiences, learn coping strategies, and build resilience together.
Alongside mentorship and therapy support, the programme will also include workshops and resilience-building sessions designed to help families develop practical tools for managing change, improving communication, and strengthening relationships.
A key aim of the project is to reduce isolation by creating supportive connections between families who understand the realities of living with injury, illness, or long-term health conditions resulting from military service.
Susan McCormack, CEO of Mode Rehabilitation, said:
“Families are often the unseen support system behind those who have served. When a veteran experiences injury or illness, the impact is felt across the whole family. This programme will help families connect with others who understand their journey, offering guidance, support, and hope.”
Mode Rehabilitation has supported members of the Armed Forces community and their families for many years, providing accessible mental health services and community support across Greater Manchester and beyond. The Families Together programme will build on this experience by offering a dedicated space where families can connect, share experiences, and strengthen their resilience together.
We are extremely grateful to the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust for supporting this important work and helping ensure that families who care for wounded, injured, or sick veterans receive the support they deserve.
